COMPULSORY TAXI INSURANGE URGED North Capitol Citizens Ask Financial Responsibility Proof Be Required. Endeavoring to insure .pedesmnm and motorists against injury or dam= age hy taxis, the North Capitol Citi- wens' Association last night indorsed 8 proposal that taxi owners and asso- ciations operating in the Distrct be re- quired to deposit with the director of vehicles and traffic, or any other prop- er agency, evidence of financial re- sponsibility to answer in damages for personal injuries or property damage. The meeting also witnessed re- sumption of endeavor to secure from the city traffic lights at the North Capitol and R streets and the Lincoln road and R street intersections. Claiming the District is financially able to pay for such improvements, John F. Hardie read a letter from ‘William A. Van Duzer asserting the government was unable at this time to secure funds for the proposed in- stallation of lights, at the same time reading figures on government in- come and expenditures to show mis- allotmen¥ of funds. LANDSCAPE ARTIST, DE LISLE LANE, DIES Resident, Formerly of Florida, Had Gone to New Orleans for Health, De Lisle Lane, 2010 Kalorama road, landscape artist, who formerly was engaged in the interior decorating business, died Saturday in New Or- leans, where he had gone several months ago for his health, Mr. Lane, who was 47, had been in failing health for several years, but death was attributed to a heart attack. He had maintained his residence in ‘Washington since 1930. Previously, he had been in the interior decorating business at Jacksonville, Fla. Mr. Lane had studied here at the Corcoran Art School and had devoted his time in recent years to landscape paintings. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Susan Wooding Lane, who was with him in New Orleans; his mother, Mrs. Irene Lane, and sister, Mrs. Nadine Lane Gallagher, both of this city, and his father, G. P. Lane, Memphis, Tenn. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today in Hysong's funeral parlors, 1300 N street. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery. THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D. CUMBERLAND, January 26 (#).— More than $3,000 has been collected by forfeitures of $1 bonds on parking violators since the vehicle parking meters were installed along the main streets here on June 29. He | is a member of the United States Su- preme Court bar and the author of several other books on accounting, in- surance and investments. At present he is a member of the faculty of the National University School of Law. Secretary of Commerce Daniel C.
