(Continued From Third Page.) ‘was hostess at a luncheon yesterday at the Mayflower Hotel in honor of Miss Margot Chase, who made her debut last week. Guests at the luncheon were a few of Miss Chase’s close friends. Miss Fleming, who is & student at Wellesley College, is spend- ing her Christmas vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Fleming, in Edgemoor, Md. She was one of the debutantes of last season, having been presented at a tea during the holiday season. Mr. and Mrs. F. Eberhart Haynes will leave Saturday to open their house at Mountain Lake Club, Lake Wales, Fla., for the season. Mr. Haynes will return to Washington next week and will go to Florida late in February to remain for the rest of the season. Mrs. Haynes will have with her in Florida during the Winter Mrs. Paxton Blair, formerly Miss Gertrude Gros- venor. Mrs. Eva Sanstag Ross of New York will come to Washington January 1 and will be at the Willard Hotel. Mrs. Ross, & former resident of Washing- ten, has lived in Europe for many years with her son, Mr. Howard Lin- eoln Ross. The former Assistant Attorney Gen- eral of the United States and Mrs. William Stanley and their family of Laurel, Md,, are on a cruise in South- ern waters. > Mr. and Mrs. Robert Emmet Moran will entertain at a cocktail party this afternoon at 5 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. I. Mathews Woods of Capitol Hill left today for the South. They will spend the month of Janu- ary touring through Florida. Mrs. G. W. Johnston, who has spent some time at Arlington Hall, Va., has taken an apartment at the West- chester. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel A. Leary are in Washington and are at the Shore- ham for the holidays. They will re- turn in a few days to their home in West Orange, N. J. Mrs. Louis Schmitt has come to Washington with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Philip Schmitt, and her niece, Mrs. William Sidney Bryant, and are at the Shoreham. They expect to re- turn to their homes in New York City the latter part of the week. Mrs. H. Stewart Wootten has ar- rived from Milledgeville, Ga., for &' vizit of several days. During her stay she will be at the Wardman Park Hotel, Dr. and Mrs. MacPherson Crichton entertained a party of 12 last evening at their home on H street. Afterward they took their guests to the National Bheater to see Frances Starr, Mrs. R. Golden Donaldson, in her premiere showing of “The Two Mrs. Carrolls.” The guests included Mr. and Mrs. Francis Howard of Huntington, Long Island; Mr. and Mrs. James B. Arm- strong of New York City, Mr. and Mrs. William B. Shearer, Dr. Charles McMahon, Mrs. James P. McKane, Mr. and Mrs. Francis W. Whitman and Mr. D. Frazier Salladay. Former Senator Frederic M. Backett of Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Sackett spent yesterday in Washington at the Mayflower. Dr. and Mrs. Nelson M. Smith of Ann Arbor, Mich., are at the Ward- man Park Hotel for a visit. They are attending the meetings of the College Hygiene Convention now i session at the hotel. Dr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Gilman of Storrs, Conn., also are attending the sonvention. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Clinton Dyer were hosts at a dinner dance at the Bhoreham t evening for their daughter, Miss Dorothy Dyer. Johnson, and Lieut. Alfred Johnson Bolton, U. 8. A, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Bolton of Baltimore, are being married today in New York Oity. Lieut. The house was filled with friends with whom we chatted after dinner and we sat around until very, very late. It was a most successful, lovely party and Alonsita Walker deserved all the compliments she received.
