TULSA, Okla., December 29.—The Oll and Gas Journal reported today & drop of 11,727 barrels daily in the Nation's production of crude oil for the week ending December 26, bring- ing the total dally output to 3,135,613 barrels. Oklahoma's production dropped 1, 775 barrels daily, to 595,600; Bast Texas increased 113 barrels, to 450,911, and all Texas increased 463 barrels daily, to 1,216,849. Louisiana decreased 1,010 h.mll to 240,335; California decreased 14,100 barrels, to 580,000, and Kansas rose 2,550 barrels, to 176,150. NEW YORK, December 329.—Most of the peaks in the steel industry which have been unmatched since 1920 seem destined to fall during 1937, according to a survey by Dun & Bradstreet, Inc. “With production maintained above the 4,000,000-ton mark for 5 of the elapsed 11 months of 1936 and the steel ingot operating ratio at a seven- year high, the surge of buying since November has expanded backlogs be- yond any comparative records in peacetime history. “Most of the mills will be forced to skip the usual year-end shut-downs, except for brief periods required to make deferred repairs and to install new equipment for the higher sched- ules planned. “Showing a gain of 80.5 per cent | over the 1934 comparative tonnage and 40 per cent over that of 1935, steel ingot production for the 11 months ot 1936 amounted to 42,487,717 gross tons, according to the statistics compiled by the American Iron & Steel Institute. When compared with the annual average of 41,500,000 gross tons for the 10-year period ended with 1929, this represented a rise of 2.4 per cent. With the fast pace of December operations, total production for 1936 has been estimated at around 47.- 000,000 gross tons, the largest since | 1929 at 54,850,000. | November Total at $65,- 906,297, Against $48,979,- 493 in Same 1935 Month. Advance reports from 101 class I railroads, representing 91 per cent of total operating revenues, just received and made public today by the Asso- ciation of Railroads, show that those roads in November had a net railway operating income of $65,906,297, com- pared with $48979,493 in the same month last year. Complete reports for all class I railroads as to their revenues and expenses in November are expected to be available within a few days. Operating revenues of the 101 class I railroads in November totaled $326,- 608,056, compared with $274,282,559 in November, last year, or an in- crease of 19.1 per cent. Operating expenses of the same roads in November last vear ‘otaled $226.269,857, compared with $199,476.- 839 in Novemebr last year, or an in- crease of 13.4 per cent. Taxes paid in November by these railroads amounted to $24,375,204, compared with $16.464,.826 in No- vember, 1935, or an increase of 48 per cent. Forty-nine class I railroads in the Eastern district, representing 97.2 per cent of total operating revenues, had a net railway operating income in November of $38,002,692, compared with $29,636,062 in November last year.
