MURDAUGH Active in Church and Social Work, She Was Member of 01d Philadelphia Family. Mrs. Margaret R. Murdaugh, long active in organizations here and else- where, died Sunday night at her home, 1921 Kalorama road. She had been ill several months. Mrs. Murdaugh, widow of J. Dan- dridge Murdaugh, had been a Wash- ington resident for 45 years. A native - | of Philadelphia the former Miss Rich- ards was & member of & family of that city’s early settlers. For many years she had been an active member of St. Thomds’ Epis- copal Church here, belonging to the Women’s Auxiliary. She also had been an active worker for the Home for Incurables; had served as a secre- tary and vice president of the Gentle Women's League, and was & member of the National Cathedral Association, aiding in the building program - of ‘Washington Cathedral, where she laid & cornerstone in memory of her sister, Mrs. Hays Compton. She also belonged to the Kenmore Association, which set up Kenmore at Fredericksburg, Va., as a national shrine, &nd St. Anne's Preventorium needy and sick e.hlldm of the Blue Ridge Mountain section. She had been active from time to time in a number of other charitable organ- izations. Surviving Mrs. Murgaugh are a daughter, Mrs. Harry Fitzhugh Gray of New York, and two grandsons. Funeral services were held at 10:30 am. today in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Rev. Dr. Willlam 8. Bishop officlated. Burial will be at Pred- ericksburg. WALTER L.
