NEW YORK, December 10.—Mixed trends featured today's bond matket, with most changes confined to small fractions. Ttalian issues in the foreign list moved forward buoyantly in the early trading as if impressed by the more active talk in London and Pafis on Ethiopian peace prospects. Many of the secondary issues hung closely around the finals of yesterday on a considerable volume of dealings. ‘The market thus gave an indication of substantial support with an offset of Tealizing as well. Loans of such roads as Frisco and Wabash were heavy, while those of Baltimore & Ohio, St. Paul and South- ern Pacific edged a little higher. Postal Telegraph 5s, American & Foreign Power 5s, Texas Corp. 5s and United Drug 5s found buyers at slightly higher levels, and Botony Con- solidated Mills jumped 4 points to| around 197:. United States Governments were steady. Treasury 33gs, 1941-3, sold at 107.21, up 4-32 of a point. Smaller gains appeared in the Treasury 27:s and 3%s of 1941. Federals sold a shade lower. e INVESTING COMPANIES NEW YORK. X Y Y ¥ HUTTON RESIGNS FROMFOODS POST Chester Named Chairman. Francis Is Advanced to Presidency. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, December 10.—E. F. Hutton, Wall Street banker and in- dustrialist, has resigned as chairman of General Foods Corp. it was an- nounced today. C. M. Chestbr, president of the cor- poration, has been named as Hutton's successor as chairman and Clarence Francis, executive vice president, has been appointed president to succeed Chester. The office of executive vice presi- dent has been eliminated. Serves Without Salary. A statement issued by the company telling of the resignation said Hutton had held the position of chairman since April, 1923, and “during this period. has declined to accept any com- pensation therefor.” Chester commented that Hutton, “although improving, was not in good health and that his return to active business affairs was indefinite.” “The directors,” the announcement added, “expressed gratitude to Mr. Hutton for his long and useful serv- ice given at heavy personal and finan- cial sacrifice. Mr. Hutton remains as & director of the corporation.” Attacked “New Deal” Mr. Hutton recently attracted at- tention with an article in the maga- zine Public Utilities Fortnightly, in which he urged business to “gang up” in opposition to certain aspects of the New Deal. Mr. Hutton explained in a subse~ quent statement, however, that the article had been written several months previously and that he had changed his attitude toward the Roosevelt administration since it was written. He said he had used the ex- pression “gang up” merely in the sense of “get together.” More than 20 years ago Hutton married Marjorie Post, daughter of the late C. W. Post, founder of Post | Cereal business which became an im- portant anit in the General Foods combination when it was formed in 1929. They were divorced last Sep- tember. Founded Stock Firm. Hutton founded the stock exchange firm of E. F. Hutton & Co., in 1904, but for a number of years has been less active in the concern, and is now a special partner. He is a director of Chrysler Corp. and other large cor- porations. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10, 1935. STEEL SHIPMENT LAG N NOVEMBER United States Corporation Reveals Drop of 4,921 Tons . 10 681,820 Level. .
