CELEBRATION SET IN CHEVY CHASE Baptist Church to Observe Twelfth Anniversary Tomorrow. The Chevy Chase Baptist Church will celebrate its twelfth anniversary tomorrow. “The Glory of the Church” will be the sermon theme of the pastor, Rev. Edward O. Clark, at 11 o'clock. ‘The church was organized Decem- ber 6, 1923, under the auspices of the Columbia Association of Baptist Churches, of which Dr. H. W. O. Mil- lington was secretary. From that time with a charter membership of 26 the church has grown to the present mem- bership of 336. The chapel was erected | on Western avenue, at Chevy Chase Circle, in 1925. The members are en- gaged in an effort to pay off the re- maining portion of the indebtedness on the chapel and the ground site. Rev. Mr. Clark will preach at 8| pm. The ordirance of baptism will be observed. George B. Praser, chairman of the board of trustees, will lead the deve- tional service on Thursday evening. The white gift service will be held December 20 with a Christmas fan- tasy entitled “The Doctor of Lonesome Folks.” “VOLUNTEER DAY” TO BE OBSERVED Ninth Street Christian Church | ‘Will Hold Special Services Tomorrow. “Volunteer day” will be observed at the Ninth Street Christian Church tomorrow at 11 am. Rev. Clifford H. Jope will use as his subject “The Devil Laughs.” The Junior Church, under the lead- ership of Mrs. H. B. Douglas, will meet in the church house. Roland Brown will give the sermon story, entitled “A Christmas Fairy.” | At 7:45 p.m. the pastor will speak | on “The Compelling Christ.” This will be the eighth in the series on the Gospel of John. At the evening service next Sunday baskets will be placed at the doors of the auditorium by the Welfare Committee for the reception of usable old clothing.
