Christian Science “Ancient and Modem Necromancy, Alias Mesmerism and Hypnotism, De- nounced,” is the subject of the lesson- sermon in all the Churches of Christ, Scientist, tomorrow. The golden text is from Psalms cxxxix.23-24: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Among the citations which comprise the lesson-sermon is the following from the Bible: “Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keep- eth the truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord Jeho- vah is everlasting strength” (Isaiah xxvi.2-4). The lesson-sermon also in- cludes the following passage from the Christian Science text book, “Science and Health With Key to the Scrip- tures,” by Mary Baker Eddy: “You command the situation if you under- stand that mortal existence is a state of self-deception and not the truth of being. Mortal mind is constantly producing on mortal body the results of false opinions; and 1t will continue to do so until mortal error is de- prived of its imaginary powers by truth, which sweeps away the gossa- mer web of mortal illusion” (page 403).
