SHFET N HONE CANPAGH OPEN American Red Cross Points Out Dangers to Avoid in House. Circulating a list of six danger points in the home, the American Red Cross today opened a five-day cam- paign for safety in the home. The | District chapter is pressing the cam- paign here. | Along with the list was circulated & detachable slip attesting that in- spection had been made and some of | the specific hazards removed. Home | inspectors were urged to see that— 1. Stairways and steps are kept ! clear, repaired, lighted; perches and | balconies have secure railings; toys and utensils are properly stored; a step ladder is available in the home. 2. Safety matches are used, kept out of the reach of children; bonfires are prohibited, fireplaces screened; utensils filled with hot liquids are kept away from small children. 3. The garage door or windows are kept open when the motor is running; | gas appliances are kept in good con- | dition, the gas shut off entirely if equipment is defective until repairs can be made. | 4. Medicines are stored in clearly | labeled containers, necessary poisons | stored out of the reach of children; food should be removed from tin cans promptly after opening. 5. Electric cords and appliances are | kept in good condition; touching two conductors of electric current (light | fixture and water faucet) at the same time is avoided. 6. Sharp and piercing instruments and broken glass are used carefully or | disposed of promptly. Immediate at- | tention is given to all wounds. | A E MRS. PHEBE MOORHEAD DIES HERE AT AGE OF 81 Deceased Was Widow of Promi- nent Lumberman in Penn- | sylvania. Mrs. Phebe E. Moorhead, 81, widow of John C. Moorhead. prominent lum- ber man in Pennsylvania, died yester- day at her home in the Ontario Apartments after an illness of 10 days. She was the mother of Mrs. John Howard Ford. wife of the president of the Union Iron Works. Mrs. Moorhead was born in Brock- wayville, Pa.. the daughter of Joseph and Julia Greene. She was married in 1876 and lived in Kittanning, Pa., until 1917, when Mr. Moorhead died. She has been a resident of Washing- ton since 1920. Surviving. besides her daughter, Mrs. Ford, are three grandchildren, Mrs Frances Hildebrand and Miss Kay | Moorhead, both of Washington, and Mrs. Albert W. Cloud of Ingle- | wood. N. He died Saturday of heart disease. | Mr. Dent, a naval veteran of the Bpanish-American War, was about 60. He is survived by his widow, three #ons, John F.
