Lewis was born in Burling- ton, Tows, in 1900, and after gradua- tion from the Naval Academy in 1922 was commissioned an ensign. He qualified as a naval aviator in 1925. Mrs. Maude Carlton Courtis, widow of Rear Admiral Frank Courtis, died yesterday at her home, 1854 Wyoming avenue. She was 69. The daughter of the late Gen. J. Henry Carlton, Mrs. Courtis was born in Californis She was married in the District, but did nov come here to live until a year ago. Since the death of her husband about 25 years ago she lved abroad much of the time and also in Atlantic City. Funeral arrangements have not been announced. MRS. EMMA B.
