The three left Homestead, Fla., Saturday night for a moonlight sail in young Hickson's 18-foot boat. A gust of wind capsized the craft two hours later when it was being turned about. They succeeded in casting the mast adrift and righting the boat. They climbed back into it, but the small craft was virtually full of water and they were unable to make head- way toward land. By the Associated Press. PARIS, July 15.—Followers of Fran- cois de la Rocque, potential dictatar, and Edouard Daladier, fallen premier, disputed the leadership of France to- day after gigantic but comparatively orderly Bastille day demonstrations over the issue of Fascism. “Daladier in power! Hang De la Rocque!” cried Communist, Socialist and Radical Socialist marchers, vari- ously estimated at from 90,000 to 400,000, as they demonstrated yester- |, day under the red flag of communism and the tri-color of France. Thousands Cheer Marchers. “Long live De la Rocque!” shouted thousands cheering the parade of the colonel’s nationalist veterans group, Croix de Feu,” estimated to number from 25,000 to 50,000. The real test of strength apparently ‘was put off for some months, but both forces gave evidence of how the politi- cal right and left are massing into two rival The demonstrations overshadowed the national holiday itself—the 146th anniversary of the storming of the Bastille prison by revolutionaries—al- though the people danced in the streets until dawn today, as is cus- tomary on July 14. “Popular Front” Hailed. Daladier, Whose followers demon- strated about the Place de la Bastille —at the opposite end of the city— congratulated the “popular front” for its “magnificent demonstration, which S ometbing Different Eggs stuffed with minced chicken in Jellied Chicken Broth, STAR, proves to France and the world that fascism shall not pass.” Mobile guards an: pouuflnnuad the side streets, although no emer- gency arose.
