By the Associated Press. VIENNA, July 13.—Mme. Schusch- nigg, wife of the Ausirian chancellor, was killed and her -cn badly injured in an automobile accident near Linz today. The chancelior was reported uninjured but in a hospital at Linz. ‘The Austrian cabinet later decided tentatively to suggest to Chancellor Kurt Schuschnigg that he quit office for an extended vacation as the result of the accident. The chancellor’s post would be taken by Prince Emst von Starhem- berg, vice chancellor and leader of the Helmwehr, the Fascist militia army. An official communique said that the chancellor and his wife were en route to their Summer home at El- besberg, near Linz. when the cauf- feur appeared suddenty ill and lost conttol of their car. It crashed into a tree. The chancellor was thrown fiee. A preliminary examination by surgeons, later confirmed at Linz, indicated that he was uninjured except for slight bruises and nervous shock. It was also said at :he hospital that the son, at first reported seriously in- jured, was only slightly hurt, and nei- ther he nor his fathcr was put o bed. The chauffeur’s cordition was seri- ous. A cabinet meeting was summoned immediately upon receipt of news of the accident, and Vice Chancellor Ernst von Starhemberg was recalled from Vatican City, where he was visiting.
