CRIMINAL ACTIONS FACE EMPLOYERS Discharges for Union Activ- ity Stir Administration. Grand Juries Due. By the Assoclated Press. Criminal court action against em- ployers found to have discharged em- ployes for union activity is being planned by the administration and the Department of Justice probably will ask Federal grand juries for a number of criminal indictments within a few weeks, according to word from an authoritative source. So far, punishment for violation of the N. R. A. ban on discrimination against union members has been con- fined to removal of the Blue Eagle. The Government has gone to court in 7-a cases only twice—to seek enforcement | of Labor Board orders rather than punishment of violators. Two companies the board found to have violated 7-a have tried in court to stop the first punishment the board ordered for them—Blue Eagle removal Both the Ames-Baldwin-Wyoming Shovel Co. of Parkersburg, W. Va. und the Ely-Walker Co. of St. Louis asked the District of Columbia Su- preme Court to enjoin N. R. A. from taking their code compliance insignia Violation of 7-a is a misdemeanor, punishable by a maximum fine of $500 for each offense, with each day’s vio- lation considered a separate offense.
