More than 3,000 old and new mem- bers of the Young Men's Christian Association and their friends joined in the New Year celebration at the Cen- tral Y. M. C. A yesterday when the association held “open house” with an all-day program of entertainment There was an almost continuous round of activity in all departments of the Y. M. C. A., including a score | of sport contests and exhibitions. con- certs, dramatic presentations, a memory demonstration by Mark Wooding. a eimultaneous multiple-game chess and checker exhibition by W. B, Mun- dell, movies and dancing. Plays 25 Games. Two Plays Presented. Two plays were presented in the “y” auditorium. Faithe Howell and James Martin gave a one-act play, “Some Words in Edgewise,” and play- ers of Foundry Church offered a short play, “Dust of the Road,” featuring Helen Duey, Charles M. Hunt, Wil- liam Rodda and Clarence Walther. Readings were given by Mrs. Adelaide Hibbard. The boys’ department held its an- nual games tournament, junior swim- ming meet and finals of the Morro Castle safety swim. The boys also played basket ball and gave boxing, | wrestling and tumbling exhibitions.
