CATHEDRAL BEGINS ADVENT SEASON Bishop Freeman Will Speak at Evensong Service Tomorrow. The first Sunday in the Advent season of the church year will be| observed in Washington Cathedral tomorrow with the beginning of a series of four sermons at the 11 a.m. services of morning prayer and cele- bration of the holy communion by the Very Rev. Hughell E. W. Fos- broke, dean of the General Theological Seminary in New York City. ‘The preacher at the people’s even- song service in the great choir at 4 o'clock will be Bishop James E. Free- man. Services for the day will begin with the celebration of the holy communion in the Bethlehem Chapel at 7:30 a.m. Group pilgrimages for out-of-town visitors to the National Capital will be held immediately following the 11 am. and 4 pm. services. Volunteer pilgrim aides are on duty ; from 9 am. to 5 pm. on week days to extend hospitality to visitors and to show them through the cathedral, with particular reference to the sculpture, stained glass, altar carvings and other features of the cathedral symbolism. The bishop's garden is open for quiet pilgrimage or medita- tion during the same hours. Bishop Freeman and Miss Mabel T. Boardman, secretary of the American Red Cross, will deliver addresses De- cember 5, at the annual meeting of the New York Committee of the Na- tional Cathedral Association, to be held at the home of Miss Caroline White, 4 East Sixty-sixth street. SERIES OF ADVENT SERMONS SLATED Four Topies for Morning Services | Announced by Dr. Oscar Blackwelder. Dr. Oscar F.
