THE ICKES BARS PWA. | SOLICITING AGENT Jack Wallace Said to Have Collected Money to Get Town Loans. An order barring Jack Wallace of San Antonio, Tex., as an agent for soliciting P. W. A. loans was issued yesterday by Public Works Adminis- trator Ickes. The arder was issued at the Bureau of Investigation and inquired into ‘Wallace's conduct here as a repre- sentative of two Texas towns seeking “quick action” on applications for P. W. A, loans. It was stated that Wallace was paid $50 by the town of Marion and promised a fee of $100 if he secured & loan for $24,900 to finance a water- way project. Another town, North Pleasanton, was said to have given him $50, with a promise of $100 if he got & $24,000 loan for a similar project. In ordering Wallace barred from the department as a solicitor, Secre- tary Ickes repeated that applicants for P. W. A. loans have no need to hire representatives to seek favors from the P. W. A.
