CHICAGO, May 22.—Acute weakness developed in wheat prices late today, and with stop loss selling in evidence, the market fell to about 7'z cents under the recent top. ‘Wheat went to the lowest quotations since April 29. Liquidation of wheat was mainly by small holders, who were belated purchasers near the crest of the recent prolonged advance. Wheat closed unstable, 1%-214 under Saturday’s finish; corn unchanged to higher; oats, ':-1% down, and provi- sions unchanged to 15 cents off. WHEAT— Open. High. NEW YORK, May 22—After a mid- day decline which carried prices off 15 points from Saturday’s close and into new low ground for the reaction, the cotton market steadied abruptly today and not only recovered all of the loss but closed with an advance of 8 to 12 points on the day. The reaction of nearly a cent a pound from recent high levels attracted more support. Spots were advanced 15 points to 8.40.
