The reconstructed synagogue of the Har Zion Congregation, Eighth and | Shepherd streets, will be dedicated to- night at_special ‘services scheduled to start at 7 o'clock. Representative. Herman P, -Kopple- mann of Connecticut and the rabbis of Washington will address the gathering. Rabbi J. T, Loeb, who has taken charge of the gongregation, will take a prominent role in the dedication, as will P. Laifsky, president of the con- gregation. - Other officers of the congregation are M. Edelman, vice president; - §.- Rubin- stein, treasurer; J. Cohey, ry; J. Goode, first trustee; M. Moses Cohen, second trustee, and H. Denenberg, third trustee. - .. The Har Zion is comparatively a young congregation, having launched upon its career in 1919. The small group of people held services on Sab- baths and holidays at the home of Rev. M. J. Cohen, in the 3000 block of Geor- Eations. usiti Rk the hased 'y purc s street and Georgia avenue. The congregation was incor- mted and procured its charter in the rict of Columbia in October, 1929. A new house, at Eighth and Shepherd streets, was purchased that month and has been remodeled into the synagogue. The remodeling has provided for more space, new equipment of pews, a fine “Oron Kodesh” and modern lighting. The structure, previously a dwelling, now has the appearance of a synagogue and a seating capacity of 300.
