Walsh and Mrs. Walsh are at Daytona Beach for the day before coming to Washington for the inauguration. Senator and Mrs. David A. Reed will entertain the members cf the Pennsyl- vania delegation in Congress at tea this afternoon. The “Ladies’ of the Senate” were en- tertained at luncheon yesterday by Mrs. Reed, who annually gives a y for this luncheon club, composed of wives of Senators who meet weekly at the Capi- tol during the congressional season. Senator-elect and Mrs. James P. Pope of Boise, Idaho, have come to Washing- ton and are at the Roosevelt for the Spring. Senator Hiram Bingham of Connect- icut, Mrs. Harry E. Thomas, national Republican committeewoman of Wis- consin, and Mrs. Jacob Baur, national Republican committeewoman of Illi- nois, will be guests at the dinner to be given this evening at the Mayflower by the National Capital Repubuunl Club. Senator Reed Smoot of Utah, Sena- 1sr James E. Watson of Indiana and nator George H. Moses of New Hamp- shire will be guests of honor. By the Assoclated Press. LOS ANGELES, March 1—Paul Bern's death again has been formally declared a suicide. After a week of investigation into the death of the film producer and hus- band of Jean Harlow, screen star, a formal statement was issued by grand jury members and representatives of the district attorney’s office, in which they said: “We are definitely of the opinion at this time that Paul Bern died a suicide. After a thorough and exhaustive ex- amination, we are of the opinion that the facts, as disclosed. do not warrant l!.he expenditure of &ul:l!lxcu moneys for urther proceedings case.” Bern was found shot to death in his Benedict Canyon home last September 5. A coroner’s jury returned a verdict of suicide.
