Ve JANITOR IS EXONERATED IN SLAYING OF NEPHEW Inquest Told Colored Youth Had Blackjack When He Appeared at Apartment House. Ernest Frederick, 40, colored, janitor at a building in the 1800 block of Kalo- rama road, was vindicated by a cor- oner’s jury at the District morgue yes- Yerday for shooting and killing his nephew, Andrew Frederick, 24, colored, when the latter came to the apartment building yesierday afternoon. After listening to testimony, the jury returned a verdict of justifiable homi- cide on the grounds the shot was fired in self defense after the younger man had threatened him. A search disclosed that the nephew had a blackjack with him when heTg peared at the apartment building. The uncle is said to have succeeded the nephew as janitor some while ago, and the younger man was told to stay away from the building. WOMAN HELD IN CRASH Faces Grand Jury Action in Fatal Auto Collision. A coroner'’s jury investigating the death of Mrs. Mary Blackstone, 35, colored, of the 5300 block of Hayes street, who was fatally injured in an automobile collision February 7, yes- terday held Mrs. Gillie K. Reynolds, 200 block of Maple avenue, Takoma Park, Md, for the action of the grand Jury. Mrs. Reynolds was said by police to have driven one of the cars involved in the accident which occurred at Piney Branch road and Butternut street. Mrs. Blackstone died Thursday at Freedmen's Hospital. — TENOR ADOPTS BABY Morton Downey, Jr., to Keep Play- mate of Brother.
