PITTSBURGH, December 14. —John Phoman, youthful life- term conviet, has made good his word that-he would not spend Christmas in prison. He com- mitted suicide by hanging in his cell yesterday. Phoman, who was only 23, had been in prisorr 13 days. After being sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife at South Fork, Phoman told friends: “I'll be out of that place before Christmas.” He had a wild gleam in his eyes as he said it.
