The Secretary of Agriculture, Mr Arthur M Hyde, sent flowers to the Congressional Club for its opening yes- terday afternoon, when the wives of the new members of Congress were the honor guests. There was a delightfully informal atmosphere prevailing at the reception and tea which opened the formal pro- gram of the club, composed of the feminine members the families of Senators and Representatives discussions of looming political ques- tions, mingling with the new fashion modes predicted for the Winter season predominated in the this interesting group of women from all parts of the United States. Mrs. Dyer, wife of Representative Leonidas C. Dyer, new president of the club, headed the receiving line, which included the many honor guests. Mrs Dyer wore an unusually becoming gown of deep amethyst transparent velvet, with a close-fitting hat to match and a shoulder bouquet of orchids and lilies of the valley.
