TWO PERSONS DIE IN'GAR ACCIDENTS Clarendon Man Killed as Auto Leaves Road in Falls Church. DA Virginia traffic accidents took a toll | of two lives over the week end, while | many were injured in highway mishaps | in both Maryland and Virginia. FALLS CHURCH, Va., September 28. ~—John Coleman, 30 years old, of Clar- endon, Va., died yesterday morning at 10:30 in Georgetown Hospital as & result of an accident which occurred shortly after Saturday midnight on the | Leesburg Pike, in the town of Fal Church. Mrs. Mary E. Murray, wife of J. Irvin Murray of Falls Church, a pas- senger in Coleman's car, is in Geoig:- town Hospital with a fractured skuil, cuts and possible internal injuries. Brown was killed early Sunday morning on the Richmond Highway four miles below Fort Humphreys, when struck by a car driven by Walter Bayliss, white, of 811 Oronoco street, Alexandria, Va. Bayliss 15 in jail at Fairfax, held without bond pending a preliminary hearing today before a justice of the peace. Bayliss’ two companions, Archie Malton of 109 South Fairfax street and William Simms of 1700 Prince street, Alexandria, were held for investigation on $1,000 bond each, and in addition were each fined $10 and costs by Justice of the Peace Harry Shepherd of Accotink on charges of being drunk. HYATTSVILLE, Md., September 28. ~—Two men were injured, one seriously, when a Baltimore taxicab crashed into the rear of a stalled machine on the Baltimore Boulevard at Riverdale last night. A second accident at the same place shortly afterward led to the ar- rest of an alleged bootlegger after he collided with a constable’s car. Chester Wilson of New Haven, Conn., and Harry Bause of Baltimore, who ‘were riding in the taxicab, were taken to Providence Hospital by the Prince Geoiges County rescue squad. Martin, jr., the driver's young son, suffered a fractured skull, and Mrs. Nora Roberts, his mother-in-law, a badly lacerated knee. Collins has been released on $500 bond, and the case set for trial October 22 in Police Court at Rockville. Charges of transportation and possession, speeding and havings tags issued to another car were preferred against Sherr, while the woman was charged with possession. 21 CONNE Hagerstown Resident Finds Wife Dead in Cellar of Home. Special Dispatch to The Star. HAGERSTOWN, Md., September 28. —A woman was killed and two men overcome last night by gas fumes ris- ing from a quantity of mash beside a still in the cellar of a home near here. The dead woman is Mrs. Meta L. Jones, 24 years old, and those overcome, Stanley Jones, 22 years old, a cousin. and Harold Ferguson, 16 years old. The two young men had gone into the cel- lar to stir the mash and when .they did not return the woman went to investi- te. The husband, returning home from an automobile trip, discovered the three unconscious forms in the cellar. The woman died a few minutes after being carried from the building, but the young men quickly recovered. The coroner said gas fumes had caused ‘the woman's death and gave a verdict of accidental death. T STOLEN CAB FOUND Recovered After Driver Is Robbed of Clothes and $8.50. The taxicab stclen from William K.
