FIRMLY AND ON CHURCH WIDENS Governor Hits Capital Arrest of Six as Bomb Plotters. Ruiz Delays Plans. By the Assoctated Press. MEXICO CITY, September 15.—The dispute between the Catholic Church | and anti-clerical leaders over religious restrictions developed into a three-cor- nered argument today, with Gov. Adal- | berto Tejeda of Vera Cruz, officials of | the Mexico City Police Department and | Archbishop Leopold Ruiz y Flores as the pincipal figures. Gov. Tejeda, regarded as the leader of the anti-Catholic movement, wired congratulations to Congress for its'sup- port of his campaign and termed the | police “servants of the clergy” for de- | taining six students he had sent to the | capital on a special missior. Police Invite Probe. The police invited a thorough investi- gation of the arrests, effected because of charges that the students had come to bomb churches. President Ortiz {‘Rublo recently promised he would in- | vestigate police activities in the matter. Archbishop Ruiz, papal delegate, issued a circular letter charging that | Congress had allied itself with the anti- clericals in a campaign of persecution | against the church and announced postponement of plans to ask a reform | |in the federal religious laws, saying conditions were not favorable for such a step. Vera Cruz Home Bombed. He charged that anti-clericals and Masons were behind the movement to restrict church activities and sald the church did not recognize the right of state authorities to determine the num- ber of priests allowed to remain in their territories. ‘The Vera Cruz government recentl limited the priests in that state to 13, the Yucatan government to 9, the Du- rango government to 25 and the Chiapas government to 14. A dispatch to Excelsior from Vera Cruz City said a bomb exploded in front | of the home of Carlos Minvielle there yesterday, smashing windows in several bulldings. | PASTORS APPOINTED Swedish M’e;hodistum:hcp An- nounces New Assignments.
