NEW YORK, August 8 —Ernest Hamlin Abbott, 62, for many years edi- tor of the Outlook and a well known journalist, died today at his Summer home at Cornwall-on-Hudson. He was a son of the late Rev. Lyman Abbott. From 1907 to 1912 he was a director of the Grenfell Association of Amer- ica. He served for two years as chair- man of the Executive Committee of the National Service Commission on Con- gregational Churches, He was war cor- respondent for the Outlook in France in 1918 and 1919, He was the author of several books on social and religious subjects and a member of the National Press Club in ‘Washington. POLICE VKILL BANDIT LOS ANGELES, August 8 ().— Police called to the scene by a report of a robbery, late today shot and killed Gerrard Millstead, 19, Patterson, N. J., as he emerged from a looted pawn shop with a revolver in his hand. The officers said they waited outside and saw Millstead taking money from J. H. Keller, the proprieter. The youth backed out of ths door, then turned to face the officers, who fired. With a bullet in the abdomen and another in the shoulder, Millstead died @ short time later in a hospital.
