July 21.—Services for Mrs. Alice Burrows, 67 years old, widow of the late William T. Burrows, a lifelong resident of this community, who dled at her home, 76 Cherry Val- ley sireet yesterday, will be held from her home tomorrow at 2 o'clock. EFFIE FORD Wife of Educational Head at Foundry Methodist Fails to Rally. Falling to rally from the effects of an operation for the amputation of her right arm, which had become infected after being broken in an automobile accldent Friday, Mrs. Effie Ford, wife of Rev. E. L. Ford, director of reli- glous education at Foundry Methodist Church, died at 10:30 o'clock last night in Sibley Memorial. Hospital. She was 52 years old. Arm Infection Sets In. The amputation operation was per- formed Sunday night by Dr. Danfel L. Borden in an effort to_stave off the infection in the arm. Mrs. Ford was brought to the hospital in her bus- band’s machine late Friday, after the car, driven by the clergyman, skidded Pred- erick, Md. Mrs, Ford’s arm was pin- ned beneath the automobile. EFFIE IORDA AUTOMOBILE DRIVER SUCCUMBS AT WHEEL Harry Hayes, 32, Dies While on His Way Home—Witness Sees Car Crash. Becoming suddenly 111 while driving his automobile early last evening, Harry Hayes, 32-year-old automobile mechanic of 10 I street northeast, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Sibley Hospital, where he was taken by a passerby who witnessed the uncontrolled automobile crash into the curb on North Capitol street near I street. ‘Thomas F. Collins, 324 H street north- east, who saw Hayes' car crash, took him to the hospital, James E. Hayes, brother of the dead man, expressed the belief that Haves Lad become fll shortly after leaving home and had decided to return when he was fatally stricken. Police report Hayes recently was treated by Dr James R. Costello of the 2800 block of Twenty-eighth street for heart and stomach trouble.
