Reports based on these two surveys have been issued by the division, one covering legislation, ° being entitled “Survey of City Planning and Related Laws in 1930,” and the other, relating to planning commissions, entitled “A Tabulation of City Planning Commis- slons in the United States. Mr. Taylor pointed cut that the large number of municipalities of all sizes which at this time have planning commissions, and the fact that interest in planning activity is not confined to any one region of the country, indicate a general appreciation of the need of this process of direction and control. Regarding the possibilities for further spread of the planning movement, Mr. ‘Taylor said that, while there are 786 planning commissions now in existence, there are something over 16,000 incor- porated municipalities, a large number of which would doubtléss benefit great- ly through the deve’opment and execu- tion of community plans.
