SHANGHAIL June 9—Senator Key Pittman of Nevada predicted today that Great Britain soon will remove its aeserted opposition to a formal in- ternational silver conference as a re- sult of the reaction in America to his statement here Monday. “I predict that within a matter of days,” the United States Senator said, “the British government will inform the American Government that Grea’ Britain is willing to participate in a formal silver conference of interested governments. “Will Be Forced to Yield.” “Great Britain not only will say it is willing to participate in such & con- ference,” Pittman continued, “but will inform the United States it will make no effort to include the discussion of war debts.” Fittman declared pow 1 British interests de- the proposed silver conference the me 2s other nations, “trercfore the Brll(dh government will be forced to yield.” Sees Way Cleared. Upon the British indication of will- ingness to participate, Pittman assert- ed, the way will be cleared for calling the conference, “which action is des- tined to follow quickly.” Pitiman yesterday charged that Great Britain is opposing calling of an international silver conference.
