This church was organized in the home of Luther 8. Cannon September 13, 1904, with 71 members. Ground was broken for the Sunday school building November 28, 1904, by Rev. P. H. Stier, president of the Church Extension So- ciety, and the corner stone laid by Dr. !J. W. Duffy December 14, 1904. The opening exercises were held May 14, 1905. The church was then located at Second and S streets and later sold. The corner stone of the present build- ing was lald March 11, 1928, with Dr. Balthis presiding.
