Ross Sterling -fter William Mc- Graw, district attorney, was unable to persuade the organizers to return from Advocated Racial Equality. The Communists were arrested for staging a street demonstration, in which they advecated racial equality, including intermarriage of Negroes and whites. They charged they were beaten by cell- mates before their release and subse- quent kidnaping by an armed band, included prominent Dallas business men and members of the Ku Klux Klan. George Clifton Edwards, Dallas at- torney who represented the Communists, was expected to relate his version of the flogging today. He asserted he also was abducted from the Dallas City Hall steps by an armed band which kidnaped Edwards, who first reported the kid- naping and flogging to newspapers & Veek ‘ago, was out of town when the grand jury inquiry began last week and did_not return until Saturday.
