A—-16 x»x WIOW OF MARCD TOTELL OF KILING Former Mrs. Harry Richman, in Fear of Her Life, Won't Return to New York. By the Associated Press. OLEVELAND, February 24.—Mrs. Yvonne Richman Marco, who fled when her husband met death at the hands of New York gangsters, is willing to talk about it here but not in New York. The 29-year-old blond widow of Frank Marco would not say whether she feared a llke fate from the under- world if she goes back to New York, but prepared to fight extradition. “I don't know why they want me. T'll answer all their questions here but I will not return to New York,” she said after she was taken into custody at the home of J. M. Marco, her father-in- law, here. She had come here for the funeral of Frank, who police said had | prospered as a New York and Chicago racketeer while his parents thought he was a successful salesman. New York police want to question her regarding her husband’s associates in the bellef they may learn why he was shot and stabbed and his body left | Iying on the water front. She faces & $300 grand larceny charge in New York. | = Mrs. Marco, the former wife of Harry Richman, stage and screen actor, de- clared she last saw Marco in the Vic- toria Hotel, New York, at midnight last ‘Tuesday, when he went out to buy a newspaper. Later he telephoned he | would be gone for a couple of hours. | Then there was another telephone call from s man who sald he was a police- | man and asked if she could identify a slain man as her husband She hung up the receiver and fled to the home of a friend, she said, and | learned of the killing from the news- | papers the next morning. The same day friends put her on a train for Cleve- Jand. “That's all I know about it,” she asserted. She asked that she be allowed to go | back to her mother-in-law's home. | | 160,000 REICHSBAN}JER VOLUNTEERS PARADE Uniformed Demonstration Reveals Readiness of German Re- public Defenders. By the Associated Press. BERLIN, February 24.—One hundred and sixty thousand volunteers, uni- formed, in khaki, and trained ready for instant service in defense of the German Republic, paraded in various cities of the Reich Sunday. They were picked members of the Reichsbanner Organization of Republican Ex-Service Men, formed seven years ago to protect the young Weimar Tepublic against its enemies at home. The marchers wore knapsacks, but did not_earry weapons, as the purpose of their nation-wide demonstration was to show both friends and foes of the republic what kind of citizens and how many of them were instantly ready to bear arms on the side of the govern- ment in case any attempts are made at its overthrow. The Berlin demonstration centered in the Lustgarten, where 16,000 uniformed Reichsbanner men and 2,000 other sup- | porters of the republic heard the | Reichsbanner chieftain, Friedrich Otto Hoersing, warn radicals of the left and | Tight that the republic founded in 1918 has the people behind it and any at- tempt to overthrow it is foredoomed | o _failure. | Communists made several attempts | %o disturb this demonstration. i by o = | | ‘The Chazars, large heathen tribe in South Russia, adopted Judaism as \‘Ahdr religion about the sixth century . D. Wales Mixes Tango ' With Dash of Waltz To Thrill Senoritas Prince George Does Most of Dancing With Envoy’s Daughter. By the Associated Press. VINA DEL MAR, Chile, February 24. —The “waltz-tango” is the Prince of Wales’ contribution to the terpsichorean art. He and his brother, Prince George, came here with a reputed fondness for the South American tango, but when tango music was played at a casino dance last night the Prince of Wales did not once do the straight tango. He worked in waltz steps, which made his dancing the most unusual and newest on_the floor. Both princes had a wonderful time dancing and drinking with old friends in the crowded new cabaret. The elder brother danced most with Senora Teresa Artara de Davis, wife of the British to- bacco representative here, while George was attentive to Miss Anne Chilton, daughter of the British Ambassador. They were so interested in the danc- ing that they declined to go into the roulette room, where one man, playing the number 18, won 10,000 pesos on small bets. Although British royalty does not gamble publicly, the prince's equerry sometimes play: You Make the Exposure — We Make the Print YOU see the image in your finder and snap the picture.
