A eulegy of Dr. Hodgkins will be de- livered at the services this afternoon by Dr. William Allen Wilbur, provost of the university, and Dr. Cloyd Heck Marvin, president of the university, will deliver a brief address to express the appreciation of the university for Dr. Hodgkins’ long and outstanding service. He served as acting president of the university from 1921 to 1923 and was the only alumnus of the university to serve as its head. At the time of his early connections with the university, it was Columbian University. Coming to this city in his youth, Dr. Hodgkins was graduated from the Washington High School. At the time of his death he held the degrees of bachelor of arts, master of arts, doctor of philosophy and doctor of science. From 1882 until 1892, in addition to his activities at the university, Dr. Hodgkins was special computer for the Nautical Almanac Office of the United | It States Navy. He was author of the Catalogue of Columbian University.’ At one time he was director of the Co- lumbia Institute for the Deaf. He was a member of the Washing- ton Academy of Sciences, the Philo- cophical Society of Washington, the American Mathematical Society, the Mathematical Association of America, the American Association for the Ad- vancement of Science, the Cosmos Club and the Federal Schoolmen’s Club, He was born in Elgin, Ill.,, January 23, 1862.
