A resolution opposing the proposed soning of the street car companies to regulate fares was passed by the North- east Washington Oitizens’ Association meeting last night at the Ludlow|11 School, Sixth and G streets northeast. ‘The resolution’ pointed out that the w 5 cents for the pas- rt distances and the 10 cent Ilre for those went on record ‘as opposed to the pres- ent 10 cent fare. The resolution indos the bicen- tennial celebration, to be held in 1932, was passed by the association. A com- mittee to aid ln the carrying out of the local celebration will be appointed at the next meeting. ‘The movement of the Mid-City Citi- gens' Association in opposing the elimination of trees on New York ave- nue between Ninth and Fifteenth streets was indorsed by the Northeast group. ‘The association also indorsed the present left-hand turn. Speakers pointed out that any change in the present traffic system would result in congestion and accidents, since it would require many months for motorists to acquaint themselves with any new .
