By Cable to The Star. LONDON, October 7.—The annual conference of the Labor party, which is now in session, has revealed nothing far more dangerous than pious, but t, denuncistions of the capi- system, the international -en- thronement of which is reluctantly ad- mitted. ‘The financial district is satisfied that no revolutionary proposals are likely with the present government in power and the . sole anxiety is the growing buxdl::. of public expenditure for social services, i Sterling, which was recéntly Nélpsd by American purchases of British gilt- |y, edged stocks, was today a shade weaker, but French exchange was more favor- able to London and the poor French harvest, entailing larger wheat imports, may obviate gold wit wals to Paris in months. Agriculture P | News From Brazil Hurts Both Municipals and Other Issues Again Today. BY DONALD C. BOWLES, Associated Press Financlal Writer. NEW YORK, October 7.—Selling of Latin American issues was resumed in the bond market today and the decline carried many to new low ground for the year on’ losses ranging from 1 to 10 points. The sharp reaction was a continu- ance of the selling movement launched yesterday as reports indicated growth of the revolution in Brazil. Brazilian municipals and industrials and some issues of Bolivia, Chile, Argen- tina and Peru were under pressure. Brazilian 8s dropped about 7 points, Brazil Central Railway Electric 7s slumped about 10, Rio Grande do Sul s 8 points, Bolivian 7s about 2, Chile 6s of 1963, 1, and Peru 6s of 1960, 4— all to new lows for the year. Bra- zilian governments and other issues of that country bore the brunt of the sell- Ing, but virtually the whole South Amer- ican list was unsettled. Bonds of American concerns with large interests in Brazil steadied after sharp breaks yesterday. There was much interest in financial circles in the appearance of the $100,- 000,000 Canadian 30-year 4 per cent loan, which has been expected for sev- eral days. Priced at 95%, to yield about 4.28 per cent, it was offered by a .large international group of American and Canadian investment houses and banks, It was the principal issue of the day, and is the largest foreign loan placed in the American market this year, sur- passing the German international 5% per cent loan. Prime investment issues suffered somewhat from the selling and only a few liens made any notable progress. Activity was considerably expanded. A feature of the railroad group was a 8l decline in St. Paul adjustment 55 of 2000, off .about 4 points to a new year's low. United States Governments were steady. FOREIGN EXCHANGES. NEW YORK, October 7.—The volume of new securities issued for productive purposes in 1930 has been higher than at any time in the past several years, g to Moody’s Investors' Service, which finds this fact an encouraging index of future business activity.
