AVELLA, Pa., August 23.—Two men lay dead today while the police of ‘Western Pennsylvania and West Vir- ‘ginia hunted through the mountains Tor their slayer as the result of a shoot- ing which last night ended a meeting commemorating the execution three years of Sacco and Vanzetti. The men were George Harkoff, 95, and Stephen Mina, 40, both of Avella. Pietro Patrella, alias Petreti, 1s the man sought as the murderer. A arose, police said, when Harkoff’s wife, Anna, began addressing the meeting. She was heckled by Patrella and Harkoff and Mina remon- strated with him. Mina, police said, Attacked Patrella with a club and Patrella opened fire on the two men. BALTIMORE, August 23.—Catholic women are expected to condemn inde- cent dress at the ninth annual conven- tion of the International Federation of Catholic Alumnae, which opens at St. Joseph's College, Emmitsburg, today and continues until Wednesday. Action on the question was taken by the membership at a meeting in 1916 and the matter will again be brought up for debate at the coming conference.
