President and Mrs. Hoover Again at White| House After Visit to Camp. Son on Long Island. Secretary and Mrs. Stimson to Get View of Sportinz Life. of State and Mrs.| at Lake Placid, are xpected to remain for the first horse ow which the Lake Placid Riding Club will give Priday and Saturday, August 22 and 23, and for which they have been invited by the club. The executive chairman for the show and Mrs. Raymond F. Stevens will en- tertain a party taking their guests from the Stevens house to the show g ¢ inds for the opening. The trip will be made in the old stage coach which 50 years ago carried passengers from the Dela- ware & Hudson Railroad Siation at Port Kent on Lake Champlain to Paul Smith's on the St. Regis chain of lakes, The coach is swung high upon heavy leather straps in place of springs and drawn by eight horses which were driven by the late Geor Meserve, famous driver in his day. The seats for pas- sengers are above that of the driver and the doors are heavy wood hand- somely carved. Mrs. Stevens will handle the reins August 22 and the coach will Be drawn by six horses. The Secretary of the Navy, Mr. Charles Francis Adams, returned to Washington this morning after spending a few days in Newport and yesterday with Mrs. Adamc at their home at Minot, Mass. Senator Simeon D. Fess entertained a small party at dinrer last evening in the garden restaurant of the Carlton. Senator and Mrs. Porter H. Dale will leave Washington this week for Vermont, where the former will attend a conven- tion of the American Legion, to be held August 14, 15 and 16. Mr. and Mrs. George M. Dale, son and daughter-in-law of Senator Dale, have returned from a several-weeks’ motor trip in New England and Canada. 8. Representative Ruth Bryan Owen is returning from Europe tomorrow on the Europia after attending the Inter- rliamentary Union meeting with nnie Hurst, the famous woman writer. the guests of the Irish Free State while in Dublin and were treated with great distinction during their entire visit abroad. Mrs. Owen has planned a wonderful sutomobile trip through the West, in- cluding Yellow Stone Park and other great show places, and will start upon it right after her arrival. Her son and daughters will join her some place en route and will accompany her on the entire trip.
