The teport of the State's attorney’s Investigators. made public yesterday, went into detail concerning Lingle's money affairs as revealed by a survey of his banking accounts. It revealed deposits running into many thousands of dollars, far in excess of his Tribune salary. The report did not indicate from ‘what source the money came, but zaid every effort was being made to find out. Sums running up to several thou- #and dollars were loaned to iingle, according to the information the in- vestigators obtained. by politicians and by men reputedly connected with gang affairs. The State's attorney’s report ex- plained that no information as to the actual progress of the hunt for Lingie s glayer would be made ‘public at this time for fear of hampering the in- vestigation. Raiders from the State's attotney’s office vesterday made a series Of visits to resorts near Burlington, Wis., in an unsuccessful effort to trap James (Red) Forsythe. hunted as Lingle's slayer. The officers believe Forsythe was in the vicinity. but that he was.tipped off and escaped before the raiders arrived. » As near as the financial statement made public yesterday could reveal, Lingle in the past two years, had an income of approximately $60,000 a year.
