Curley yesterday announced & number of changes and appointments among the clergy of the archdiocese of Baltimore, which includes Washington, and which affect a number of parishes in the Capital. Prominent among the appointments is that of Mgr. Louis R. Stickney, pas- tor of the Shrine of the Sacred Heart, in Mount Washington, to the office of chapiain of the Catholic Evidence League of Baltimore. One of the important transfers among the priests of this archdiocese is that of Rev. C. C. Avenue Church, Attending Convention. Dr. W. L. Darby, executive secretary of the Federation of Churches, will preach tomorrow morning in the Rhode Island Avenue Methodist Protestant Church. The pastor, Rev. R. Y. Nichol- son, will be absent from the city at- tending the conference of his denomi- nation for this area. Dr. Darby returned the first of the week from & visit to his alma mater, Cumberland University, Lebanon, Tenn., where he preached the baccalaureate sermon on June 1. At the commence ment on June 4 the university con- ferred upon him the honorary degree of doctor of laws. Dr. Darby spent a day or two with his mother, at Evans- ville, Ind. TEXAS PASTOR TO PREACH Dr. E. W. Bridges at First Pres- byterian Church Tomorrow. Dr. N. P. Patterson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, announces that Dr. E. W. Bridges, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Stephenville, Tex., will be the preacher tomorrow night. Dr. Patterson is preaching Sunday morning, and his subject is “The Fruit of the Spirit.” The congregatign will meet Monday night at 8 o'clock at the church for the purpose of considering propositions to merge the old First Church with the Church of the Cove- nant and the National Presbyterian Church. The Bible school is held each Sundny morning at 9:30 o'clock. DR. BRASKAMP HONORED Fonoveriiolors Conface Degree on Capital Pastor. Dr. Bernard Braskamp, pastor of Gunton Temple Memorial Presbyterian Church, recelved the honorary degree of doctor of divinity from Hanover Col- lege last Monday. ‘The pastor, with Mrs. Braskamp, later went West with their daughter for a vacation in California, where he will visit his mother and sister. THE EVENING LAYMEN T0 MEET | AT OLNEY JUNE Will Assemble at Ball Park for Annual Pilgrimage and Ceremony. ‘The annual June pilgrimage of the Laymen’'s Service Assoclation of the Diocese of Washington will have Olney, Mofitgomery County, Md., as its desti- nation June 22, and will be held in the memory of the late Col. John H. Fin- ney, curator of Washington Cathedral. Because the piigrimage is a memorial to Col. Finney, the Brotherhood of St. Andrew and the Bishop's League havel been invited to participate. ‘The men making the pilgrimage have been asked to assemble in front of the ‘Washington ball park at 9:60 am. On arrival at Olney a memorial service in honor of Col. Finney will be held at 10:45 o'clock followed by morning prayer, with an address. This service as well as all of the others will be con- ducted by the laymen. It is expected that Charles Hall Davis of Petersburg, will make the address at the morning service, while the address at the eve- ning service will be made by Ogle R. Singleton of Washington. From 12 to 1:30 o'clock a luncheon and fellowship period will take place and from 1:30 to 3 o'clock three con- ferences will be held. Maj. F. G. Mun- son will lead the conference for men, under the auspices of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. There will be a con- ference for women, the leader of which | is to be designated later. Prof. Wood will lead the third conference i | those interested in church school work, | the participants including adults and older children. The committee in charge invites all those interested, regardless of religious affiliations, to join in the pilgrimage.
