-2 SOCIETY. SOCIETY President Hoover to Entertain the Presi- dent-Elect of Colombia at Dinner Monday Evening. RESIDENT HOOVER will enter- tain at dinner Monday evening at the White House in honer of the President-elect of Colombia, | Dr. Enrique Olaya, and his suite. Dr. Olaya, who has served as Minister of his country for about eight years, ‘will be a guest of the Uni‘ed States be- ing Monday, when he will arrive New York, wmmpanicd by Mr. Richard Southgate of tie ent of State and by a military and naval aide, Col. Harvey W. Miller and Comdr. Harry L. Pence. The retiring Minister has been in New York for several days. ‘Tuesday evening the President-elect will be the guest at dinner of the Min- ister of Panama and Senora de Alfaro and the following evening the Secretary of State and Mrs. Stimson will enter- tain at dinner in his honor. The President-elect has accepted the invitation of the Women's National | Press Club to be their guest at luncheon: Tuesday at 1 o'clock, and Thursday, June 5, Dr. Olaya will be entertained | at luncheon by the director general of the Pan-American Unicn, Dr. Ico S Rowe. Following the luncheon Dr. Olaya will leave for a short stay in Chicago and from June 16 to June 25 the President-elect will be in New York reparatory to sailing with his family yur Colombia in time to arrive in their native country for the inauguraticn of Dr. Olaya in August. Mrs, Hoover received the president of | the Women's National Press Club, Miss Ruth Eleanor Jones, andsome of the other officers and members of the board at the White House yesterday afternoon. Tea was served in the Green Room, where a wood fire burned in the open fireplace, and which under its newly decorated walls and refurnishing has become a particularly interesting and homelike chamber. Mrs. Hoover was brought from the second floor of the mansion in her roll- chair and was seated on a comfort- able sofa, where she remained for al- most an hour with the women writers. She has sufficiently recovered from a fall to walk about for a few moments at a time, but is still confined to the use of her rolling chair. She wore a charming black gown with a black lace jacket, now so much in vogue, and over r feet was thrown a black satin cover embroidered in metals of different eol&‘r:. Susan L. Dyer and Mrs. Stark MecMullen of California, old friends of Mrs. Hoover, and guests in the White House, were with her, and Miss Dyer presided at the charmingly appointed tea table.
