The jury fixed his sentence at 21 years' imprisonment. Osborne’s widow, Norma, 23, previ- ously had been sentenced to nine years' imprisonment in connection with the fatal shooting of her husband in their home last July 1. PROBE RELEASES MAN FROM MURDER CHARGE By the Associated Press. JACKSONVILLE, Fla, April 19— Mrs. Margaret McNamara, who police believe was beaten to death, died from double pneumonia and not from wounds, R. R. Lillinger, county medical exami- ner, announced yesterday following an autopsy. Joseph B. McNamara, her husband, who was arrested by police Thursday night on suspicion, still was in jail last | night. Questioned by police yesterday, McNa- mara declared he had not struck his wife and that wounds on her body must | have been inflicted by a fall. ‘When told that his wife had said he had beaten-her, McNamara said “She is '.Tl:ing out of her head. She’s been so sick.” McNamara was then told by County Detective Fred King that his wife died. It was the first he knew of her death. WASHINGTON, D. C { ATURDAY, ROME CELEBRATES END OF 40-DAY FAST £ Homes Are Blessed in Color- ful Ceremony Observing Christ’s Resurrection. By the Assoclated Press. ROME, April 19.—The Lenten fast and abstinence ended at noon today. Shortly before - that the “Gloria in Excelsis,” sung at all the Holy Saturday masses, was the signal for the bells of all Rome's churches to ring out joyous- ly, in contrast to Good Friday's mourn- ful silence. The sacred images and g-lnnngs. heavily veiled in purple or lack coverings since Passion Sunday, were again brought to light, and the organs once more were played. It was a striking prelude to Easter Sunday, al ways a gala day in Rome. The blessing of the new fire, repre- senting Christ's resurrection, was car- ried out in picturesque fashion under the portico of St. John Lateran, Rome's cathedral. There Cardinal Pompili of- ficiated. He then ignited the Paschal candle, after blessing the five grains of incense, representing Christ's five ‘wounds, inserted in it. Holy Saturday at the Lateran also was commemorated by the ordination of a number of young priests of the Roman seminaries and the bestowal of the minor ‘orders on other students whose courses are not yet complete. Soon after the pealing of the bells the parish priests and their curates not attending the masses started forth for the blessing of homes and offices, each cleric being accompanied by an altar boy. Hardly a room in all of Rome was left unsprinkled with holy water. In the Vatican City the morning’s rites were marked by the blessing of the Pope’s own Paschal candle, largest of those brought out today. It was eight feet high and three inches in diameter. — The El Molo, & tribe of “fish men” in Africa, represents the only known speci- mens of semi-amphiblous people. They spend their days fishing and swimming, and it is said that a tribesman dies if he is kept without water three hours.
