SOCIETY." SOC Cabinet Official Dinner Tonight for Presi- dent and Mrs. Hoover—First Lady Congressional Club Guest. evening at the Mayflower by the Secretary of Agriculture and Mrs. Arthur M. Hyde. ‘The Congressional Club gave its greatest social entertainment of the season when at midday today a break- fast was given in honor of Mrs. Hoover. Spring weather, Spring flowers, gay music, pretty gowns and smiling faces lent the atmosphere, while the Pan- American Union Building gave the charming setting” for the event. ‘While there is always more or less informality at this interesting affair, ‘where several hundred women members of the Congressional Club and invited guests are present, there was today a pretty formality carried out when Mrs. Porter H. Dale, president of the club, met the First Lady of the Land at the door of the Pan-American Building and personally escorted her to the hall of nations, where the breakfast took place. Mrs. Gann was met in the same cere- monious manner by Mrs. C. William Ramseyer, first vice president, and escorted to the second place of honor at_the guest table. Marine Band Orchestra was sta- tioned in the patio and played during the hours of the breakfast, after which Rudy Valle is giving a specially ar- ranged program, more than one of his selections being at the request of vet- erans at the Walter Reed Hospital. This feature of the program and the Rudy Vallee Connecticut Yankee Orchestra §ill broadcast from the banquet room. Speeches short, snappy, graceful and most creditable—merely being long enough to carry out the program during the lunch. There was a graceful arrangement of yellow roses and blue lupin on the guest table, where were seated Mrs. Hoover and Mrs. Gann, Mrs. Dale be- tween them; Mrs. Wilbur, wife of the Secretary of Interior; Mrs. Charles Evans Hughes, wife of the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, who as the wife of the Secretary of State, be- came quite familiar with congressional breakfasts in years past; Mrs. Ram- seyer, first vice president, and the mem- bers of the board of the club. Spring flowers adorned each table at which groups of members of the club and their guests were seated, and with open doors and windows there was a setting and atmosphere to be found no place in the Capital except in the Pan- American Building. RESIDENT and Mrs. Hoover will P be entertained at dinner this Secretary Mellon Host At Dinner Last Evening. The Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. Andrew W.
