FORS OF LR | " TOHEARLOWMAN Rechabites Will Celebrate| ¥ 81st Anniversary at Sun- day Night Mass Meeting. Seymour Lowman, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, will speak on “Tem- perance and Sobriety” at a temperance | mass meeting Sunday night'at 8 o'clock in Calvary Baptist Church in celebra- tion of the eighty-fitst anmiversary of i Eagle Tent, No. 2, Independent Order ¥ of Rechabites. Rev. Dr. William S. Abernethy, pas- | tor of the church, will preside, and a distinguished Jroup of friends of pro- hibition in and out of Congress will act as sponsors for the meeting, according to an announcement by John R. Ma- honey, high secretary of the order. The meeting will inaugurate an in- tensive campaign by the Rechabites, pioneer temperance society, to secure “a sober citizenship and a dry Nation.” The battle ery of this crusade, it is stated, will be “Reinforce law enforce- ment by personal total abstinence,” supported by the formal xln?an. “‘Were there no drinkers, the selling would cease.” Sponsors Are Listed. Among those sponsoring the meeting are Senators Wesley L. Jones of Wash- ington_and .John M. Robsion of Ken- tucky, Representatives Addison T. Smith of Idaho and Clyde Kelly of Pennsyl- vania; Mrs. N. M. Pollock, president of the Wonten's Christian ~Temperance Union of the District of Columbia; An- drew Wilson, president of the Anti- Saloon League; Albert E. Shoemaker, field secretary of the Anti-Saloon | League, and Johin C. Foster, grand chief | of the Sons of Jonadab. Eagle Tent was established in 1849, and during its career has administered the Rechabite temperance.pledge to & Thost of citizens, including more than 500 boys.
