FINANCIAL, ™ BOND LIST GAINS ON EASIER MONEY {Traction Issues Are Feature in Advance Following Car Fare Decision. BY F. H. RICHARDSON, Special Dispatch to The Star. NEW YORK, January 7.—Continued easing of money rates and a number of speclal factors influenced bond trading today and prices advanced. The mar- ket, however, had a few weak spots. The feature was the strength in trac- tion bonds following the Supreme Court decision granting to the United Rail- ways & Electric Co. of Baltimore the right'to charge a flat 10-cent fare. The ruling that the company was entitled to & 744 per cent return on present value ot ‘the property, including the item of $5,000,000 for its franchise, was inter- preted as good news for other traction lines which have been seeking fare in- creases. Bonds of local traction com- panies immediately responded. German and French credits were high lights of strength in the foreign depart- ment, They were influenced by the rapid clearing away of ebstacles at The Hague conference and a renewed opti- mistic outlook for the London naval parléy. German reparations 7s, German Central Bank 6s, French 7s and French 7158.]ed the advance. In‘the domestic list high-grade issues such as Atchison General 4s, Baltimore & Olo First 4s, Canadian National s, Canadian Pacific 4s, Pennsylvania Genéral 414s and Southern Pacific 41is were . higher, while losses were shown .by New York.Central 4s, Union Pacific First 4s, Great Northern 7s and Colum- bia Gas 5s. Convertibles were un- changed to fractionally higher. Prices: remained about unchanged in the second-grade ralil list. In the spec~ ulative section Pathe 7s were higher on reports of a better earnings position in December. Pennsylvania Dixie Ce- ment 6s were off 4 points. Meanwhile the municipal market continues strong. Dealers reported to- day that only $5,500,000 of San Pran- cisco’s recent offering of $41,000,000 47;s remains to be sold. The rapid disposal of these bonds is taken as a Iu):'o]nb]e gauge of the market as a whole, CHICAGO LIVE STOCK MARKET CHICAGO, January 7 (#) (United States Department of _Agriculture).— Hogs—Receipts, 50,000 head, including 7,000 direct.
