THE EVENING A Further Reduction in LONG DISTANCE TEILEPHONE RATES EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1930 [ a1y ] r.D'te Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company announces a reduction in various rates for Long Dis- tance telephone service, cffective January 1, 1930. This is the fourth reduction in long dnstance rates within little more than three years. The present reduction affects principally station-to- station day rates on calls to points 60 to 300 miles distant. This will make calls to out of town points more eco- nomical than ever. On the present volume of calls, it will mean a saving of more than $5,000,000 a year to telephone users of the United States. It is in keeping with the fundamental policy of the Bell System, which is to provide the best possible telephone service at a cost as low as is consistent with financial safety.
