10 so SOC The Chief Executive Guests to See Tennis Matches on White Ho HE President and Mrs. Hoover in- vited a number of guests to wit- ness _the exhibition matches of the Davis Cup tennis teams this morning at 9:45 o'clock on the eourts of the Executive Mansion. The Chief Executive and Mrs, Hoover entertained at dinner last evening hav- ing as thelr guest the Secretary of State and Mrs. Henry L. Stimson, the Secretary of the Navy and Mrs. Charles Prancis Adams, and Rear Admiral and Mrs. Hilary P. Jones. Mrs. Hoover was hostess at one of her charming teas yesterday afternoon receiving in the Blue Room. The First Lady of the Land wore a becoming costume of pale gray crepe, the bodice having a deep gray lace bertha-like collar and her slippers and hose were in harmony with the gown. Mrs., Edward Bowman presided at the tea table in the Red Room. The company included granddaugh- ters of former Presidents, Mrs. Robert J. Randolph, who was before her mar- tiage Miss Jessie Lincoln, granddaugh- ter of President Abraham Lincoln, and Mrs. Harrison Willlams, who as little Marthena Harrison, was a baby during the administration of her grandfather, President Benjamin Harrison. Mrs. Williams was accompanied by her -eld- est daughter, Miss Sally Ann Williams, who made her first visit to the Execu- tive Mansion yesterday. Mrs. Randolph is a daughter of Mrs. Lincoln, and the late Robert Todd Lincoln, who was Secretary of War in the administrations of Presidents, Garfleld and Arthur. Much interest was displayed by the eompany in the garden just south of the State dining room and the west terrace where many varieties of roses are in ‘bloom.
