S. Cummings. O. Sam Cummings of Kansas civ.y,' Mo., president of Kiwanis International, will be honored by members of the Capital Kiwanis district at meetings to | be arranged at Washington April 29, and Richmond, May 1, for the official visit of Mr. Cummings to the district. ‘This district comprises 49 clubs with a membership of more than 3,000 busi- ness and professional men in Delaware, The Washington meeting is being arranged by Harry G. Kimball, district governor, in conjunction with Lieut. | Gov. Finley C. Hendrickson of Cumber- land; Edgar Morris, president of the Wi n Kiwanis Club, and other officers of the clubs of the first divi- sion, which includes Washington, Alex- andria, Fredericksburg, and Manassas, Va; timore, Towson, Frederick, Hagerstown, Cumberland and Havre de Grace, Md.; and Wilmington, Seaford and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Mr. Cummings was the first inter. national executive secretary of the o ganization. NAVY PETTY OFFICER ‘ CONVICTED OF ASSAULT Despite the declaration of Miss Alma Williams of the 1900 block of K street that she did not wish to prosecute, Harold E. Wheeler, a chief petty officer in the Navy, was convicted of assault in Police Court yesterday and sentenced to serve a total sentences of 75 days. Testifying in the case, Detectives S. F. Gravely and R. F. McCarthey of the third precinct declared they had been summoned to the girl’s apartment and upon arrival heard her scream for aid. When they entered, they found thc girl beaten and in need of hospital treat- ment. The case wus continued three times, Wheeler was first arraigned, necessitat- ing the issuance of a subpoena. Placed on the witnes stand yesterday Miss Williams refused to discuss the charge against Wheeler.
