Attractions in Wa NATIONAL PLAYERS—“Square I Crooks.” Next week, beginning Monday, the National Theater Players will produce the play “Square Crooks,” a new kind of crook comedy. In New York it proved one of the most successful at- tractions of its season, playing at Daly's and the Maxine Elliott Theaters for long runs. Although the title might lead to con- trary belief, “Square Crooks” is basic- elly a comedy. It is filled with thrilling moments, it is true, and it is sometimes touched with melodrama, but the com- edy is the dominant element. There are also moments of real pathos. It concerns two young men formerly en- gaged in careers prohibited by the law. One is married, the other is in love with a beautiful girl. A tireless detec- tive, on the trail of the two, brings about their arrest when a valuable shington Theaters string of pearls is stolen from their em- ployer's home. After that events move fast and furious to a whirlwind finish that makes “Square Crooks” one of the most unusual plays to be presented here this season. Matinees on Wednesday and Satur- day are scheduled. ‘WARDMAN PARK—"The Little Min- ister.” Sir James Barrie's “Little Minister” will be presented by the Junior Theater at Wardman Park Theater Friday and Saturday of this week, with matinee and evening performances each day. Mrs. James J. Davis, wife of the Secretary of Labor and one of the movement’s most enthu- siastic supporters, is another member of the committee, which includes Mrs, Walter Tuckerman, Mrs. Hewitt Walls, Frank B. Steele, Dion Scott Birney, Frank Jelleff, Mrs. John J. O’Connor, Mrs. Gerritt Miller, jr.; Mrs. A. E. Graupner, Mrs. Edwin H. Etz, Mrs, Ovid Butler, Mrs. Robert C. Howard, Mrs. W. B. Others are Billy Kavanaugh, Jack Lamont, Loretta Beyes, Bonnie and Joe Mack, all noted for versatility. An ex- ceptional chorus is promised.
