GONTOTIV YOUTH, | ON PARADE, SEIZED Chicago Vindicated as Seat!’. of Law and Order When | Westerner Lands in Toils. | By the Associated Press. CHICAGO, April 4—Winnemucca, Nev.,, has been put in its place and Chicago has been vindicated as the seat of law, order and no guns allowed. ‘Winnemucca’s basket ball team was invited to the National High School tournament now under way at the Uni- versity of Chicago. Winnemucca, how- ever, was not quite certain whether it would be safe for its boys to come to Chicago, what with all the shooting and everything, so school officials wrote to their’ Representative. The Repre- sentative, in turn, asked Mayor Thomp- son of Chicago to provide the Winne- muccans with a police escort, at least |, for the trip from the railroad station to the university. i ‘This was done, and the Winnemuc- || cans reached their destination without|! even a flesh wound. Lost in Canyons in 20 Min Having been neatly eliminated from championship consideration early in play, the boys from the wide open spaces became emboldened to set forth on a sight-seeing tour of their own de- vising. Bob Gingery, their leader, re- quired only 20 minutes to get himself hopelessly lost in the downtown can- yons. He appealed to a policeman. The policeman looked Gingery over. He observed the sombrero, the cowboy shirt, the chaps, and he observed a .38- caliber nickel-plated pistol poking from the holster that was strapped at Gin- gery's side. Just Isn't Being Done in Chi. ‘Whatever the vogue may be in Win- nemucca; it just isn't being done in Chicago. Gingery was arrested. Yes- terday he was taken before Judge Free- man Fairbanks. About the same time, Judge Fairbanks received telegrams from the Governor of Nevada and from H. M. Adams, president of the Western Pacific Railroad, asking that he be lenient. * Gingery was discharged. He joined his mates this morning when they teed off, or whatever they do in basket ball, against Portsmouth, N. H, in the con- solation tournament. ‘What happened is a matter for the sports page. LINDY AND FIANCEE SPEND QUIET DAY Two Escape Notice of Populace, | Stroll in Garden and Motor in Outskirts of Capital. By the Associated Press. MEXICO CITY, April 4.—Col. Charles A. Lindbergh, who yesterday made his fourth arrival in Mexico City by air, escaped the notice of the populace and spent a quiet day with his fiancee, Miss Anne Morrow, daughter of the American Ambassador. The couple strolled about the em- bassy garden in the morning and later motored along some of the picturesque roads in the outskirts of the capital. They found an aufomobile excurnon the best method of being by selves. v The colonel’s plans ‘were not revealed, but it was understood he would spend probably five orsix days here. It was not considerea likely um he would take Miss Morrow on any aerial excursions. ‘The Travelair monoplane, in which he and his flancee narrowly escaped disaster several weeks ago when a land- ing wheel came off and the ship crack- ed up, has been crated and started for Wichita, Kans., where it will be re- built. Lack of new parts coupled with the outbreak of the revolution kept the mechanics at Valbuena Field from repairing the plane. MINISTER IS SOUGHT. Clergyman-Bank Cashier Hunted on Warrant for Arrest.
