DR W_R GOODMAN, 86 YEARS OLD. DIES Physician Believed to Have Been Oldest Living Grad- uate of Georgetown. Dr. William R. Goodman, 86 years old, for many years a practicing physician of this city and believed by his asso- clates to have been the oldest living graduate of Georgetown University, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. B. Vincent, 640 K street northeast, yester- day. He had been in failing health for about a year. Dr. Goodman, relatives say, was the last surviving member of the George- town Medical School, class of 1870. He continued practice here from the time of his graduation until retiring about 10 years ago. He was a member of the District of Columbia Medical Society and the American Medical Association. A native of Annapolis, Md., Dr. Good~ man volunteered for service in the Union Army at the beginning of the Civil War. Although discharged for disability in line of duty due to his arm having to‘ be amputated because of wounds received in the battle of OPEN A CHARGE ACCOUNT FINE MEN'S WEAR EISEMAN'S—7th & F Predericksburg, Dr. Goodman tried to| enlist again as soon as his wounds en- abled him to leave the hospital. He was so insistent upon returning to the Army that recruiting authorities accepted him as a hospital steward. He served in the latter capacity until the close of the war. He developed a keen interest in medi- cine during his stay in the hospital and decided to become a doctor. Dr. Goodman was a member of Kit Carson Post, Grand Army of the Re- public. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Priscilla B. Goodman; two sons, William R. Goodman, jr, of Arlington, Mass., and Ulysses G. Goodman of Los An- geles; three daughters, Mrs. Vincent of this city, Mrs. R. M. Bigelow of Chi- cago and Mrs. J. M. Gwin of Evanston, I, and two brothers, Dr. Frank S. Goodman of this city and Dr. Charles B. Goodman of Baltimore. He also leaves seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Vincent, Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Interment will be in Arling- ton Ceémetery, with services at the grave by the Grand Army of the Re- public. .
