BMMUEL A. LEISHEAR, 68, SUMMONED BY DEATH Funeral Services to Be Conducted at Residence of Son Monday Afternoon. Samuel A. Leishear, 68 years old, who was for many years in the express business here as the head of the firm of 8. A. Leishear & Son, died in Gar- field Hospital yesterday after an iil- ness of about two weeks. Mr. Leishear was for many years fctive in fraternal organizations, being 8 charter member of Stansbury Lodge, No. 24, F. A. A. M.; a member of Columbia Chapter. No. 1. Royal Arch Masons, and of Columbia Commandery, 0. 2. Knights Templar. Althmlr} maintaining an interest in the hau ing business, now conducted by his | #on, Mr. Leishear was retired from ac- tive business. He is survived by his widow, Mrs Mary Louise Leishe: a son, W. W. Leishear; two brothers, William J. and G. Perry Leishear, and two sisters, Mrs. A. E. Speer and Mrs. H. E. Bittinger. Funeral services will be conducted at the son’s residence, 209 Eleventh street southwest, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. W. F. Carey will of- fictate. Interment will be in Oak HAl Cemetery. Carnes, for- mer treasurer of the Home Mission | Board of the Southern Baptist Conven- | tion, were set at $909,461 in a prelimi- | uary report from Ernst & Ernst, audi- tors, submitted to the board yesterday. The auditors said $683,334.14 of the total came from the board's general {fund and $226,126.86 from the church | building and loan fund. | Carnes Tuesday will begin serving a sentence of five to seven years, imposed this week when he pleaded guilty to one of 20 indictments. Michael J. Sauter, sr., 90 Years old, native of this city and formerly in the confectionery business for many years, died at his residence, 1111 Seventh street, yesterday after a short illness. A veteran of the Union Army, Mr. Sauter was a_member of the Grand | Army of the Republic and of the As- ociation of Oldest Inhabitants of the District of Columbia. He retired from | active business about 25 years ago. He is survived by his son, Michael J. Sauter, jr.; two daughters, Miss Vanetta C. Sauter and Miss Veronica J. Sauter; a grandson, Norman W. Suddenly, becoming ill, he left the bus on which he was riding at the time and went into a drug store at the corner of Thirteenth and H streets, where an Emergency Hospital ambulance was summoned. Oxygen was administered at the hospital. He was a native of this city and prominent in the Masonic fraternity here. He was a member of the Pen- talpha Lodge of Masons, the Scottish Rite bodies and the Trowel Club of the Interior Department. He also served as president and member of the advisory board of Masonic Clubs of the District. He was active in the support of the George Washington School for Foreign Service Instruction, endowed by the Ma- sons. He had been employed ip the Department of the Interior for the past 35°years.
