Since its organization in 1917, Dr. Jones has been chairman and now honorary chairman of the American Friends service committee, formed to carry on relief work in Europe during and after the war and maintained at present by the Quakers in this country to work on projects promoting better understanding between races and nations, . Reginald John Ripley, a di- n lay committee has been organ- under the chairmanship of H. D. of Advent Parish. The other of the comittee are Comdr. C. Jewell, secretary, and _Corcoran Thom, president of American Security & Trust Co., treasurer. Among the members of the commit- tee who held a meeting this week at Washington Cathedral offices were Wil- liam A. Oakley, representing the people »f All Souls’ Mission; William F. Bowen, W. H. Goldsmith, Francis Wallace, Stuart B. Marshall, Busey H. Howard ind Edwin N. Lewis. Mr. Oakley reported that an adequate site for the new church on Central avenue had been bequeathed to All Souls’ Mission by the late O. B. Zan- zinger several years ago. The prelimin- iry foundations have been dug by the | residents of Capitol Heights who are interested in this project and they have also made a good beginning on raising | the necessary building fund. As soon as an architect for the build- ing has been selected and an estimate made on the total amount of money needed to construct and furnish s adequate building for the mission, Mr. Amiss and his associates plan to bring the project to the attention of all lay- men in the Diocese of Washington. This plan has the approval of Bishop Freeman, who has been deeply intes ested for several years in the wor which the late Cannon Ripley was do- ing at Capitol Ileights.
